 "YOUR Health and Genetically Engineered Foods Forum” will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Florence Filberg Centre, 411 Anderton Road, Courtenay from  7:00 pm to 9:30 pm.  For more information contact gewatch@live.com.

The GE Foods and Human Health Speakers Tour begins in the Comox Valley where there are many organic farms and an increasing awareness of GMOs and what they are doing to our bodies.  The forum in the Comox Valley, “YOUR Health and Genetically Engineered Foods”, will have three speakers.  Thierry Vrain will speak about his experience working for Agriculture Canada and what he has learned since then about the dangers of GMOs.  Jan Slomp is a dairy farmer and will speak on the importance of holistic and sustainable agriculture.  Colin Palmer was instrumental in having Powell River declared the first GE free crop zone in BC and will speak about the role of local governments in the GE free crop zone process and the importance of GE labelling.

The Comox Valley is located on the east coast of Central Vancouver Island and is comprised of three communities: Courtenay, Cumberland, and Comox.  The Comox Valley is an agricultural hot spot with more than 445 farms and a significant amount of land in the Agricultural Land Reserve.  It is also the home of Thierry Vrain and Innesfree Farm.
