In Edmonton and surrounding area there is a growing awareness of where our food is coming from, how it is being grown and what is in our food. AFS is very excited to be bringing Dr, Thierry Vrain and Dr. Shiv Chopra to Edmonton to participate in a presentation that will provide people a real understanding of GE foods. What they are, how they are made and what the consequences of growing and consuming them are to our health, our environment and our future. With Vrain and Chopra's credentials, knowledge and expertise we can be assured to be getting real concrete and truthful information that will give us the tools to make good choices for our families and our future.

Edmonton is the capital city of Alberta and is located in the central region of the province. It is surrounded by several towns and hamlets as well as many organic farmers. We have a strong farmers market community with many going years round and multiple organic supermarkets.

However, increasing pressure on the Government from the Petrochemical and mining industries may have resulted in a tilt in the Government's view on sustainability and ecology, where small organic farms and pristine agricultural lands may end up being considered as expendable items for the sake of "development" and "export". Food and health conscious citizens as well as the organic farming community around Edmonton might be caught in the cross current of corporate and financial juggernauts rolling over the political system.
